What is "raw honey"?

Most honey is nutritionally dead, all of the benefits have been stripped away through filtration and pasteurization. This type of honey is found in your average grocery store. In contrast, raw honey contains vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino acids which are very beneficial to your health. You can find this type of honey at Zach and Zoë Sweet Bee Farm! We offer delicious raw honey with several infused flavors.

Honey is well known as a delicious sweetener which possesses medicinal properties. But does it really matter where or what kind of honey you buy? Yes, it does. Most honey that you get from the grocery store is not considered “raw honey” or honey in its natural state, the producers tamper with the molecular structure of the sugar by heating it up to pasteurize it. The pasteurization process kills much of the vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and enzymes in the honey decreasing the nutritional value leaving you with simply a sugary syrup.

However, raw honey is a loaded with antioxidants, pollen, and other health-boosting benefits. Raw honey raises levels of antioxidants-helping the body fight free radicals that cause diseases. Honey contains polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants that have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer. Allergy sufferers should buy local raw honey because the local pollens will be present in the honey and help reduce allergy symptoms. Overall, raw honey is packed with health-boosting properties that help you stay healthy!
